What type of cleaner should i use that works great and is not to harmful for my 3 year old son to be around ?

Depends on what you're cleaning. Simple Green is a great non-toxic and biodegradable cleaner, especially on anything greasy. I even use it to shampoo my carpets. However, it does not disinfect.
Bleach disinfects but the little one shouldn't be around an area with bleach for a good 15 minutes. The chlorine is no longer viable after about 10 minutes; give it 15 to be safe.
I clean a lot with steam. I have one of those steam cleaners that looks like a canister vac on wheels. I use it for walls, trim, windows, floors, bathrooms, counters, kitchen appliances.....a lot of stuff. The only danger with the steam is he shouldn't be too close when you're using it or he could get a bit of a scald. The steam is hot enough that you don't want to hit your hand with it but you don't stay red or blister if you mess up and do hit your hand. But his baby skin is much more tender too. With steam, there are no chemicals at all. Pair a steamer with a microfiber cloth and there really isn't much that you can't clean better than the traditional way.
I've saved a ton of money on cleaners and such since I got my steamer and microfiber cloths. I use the cloths dry to dust with and wet for wiping up the kitchen, bathroom, spills, you name it. I only use paper towels for gross stuff like kitty barf.....
The cleaners I buy now are Simple Green, Bleach, dishwashing detergent, dishwasher detergent and Barkeeper's Friend cleansing powder. The Barkeepers is great on sinks, tubs and anything metal. It's similar to scouring powder but not nearly as harsh. It even does a great job of getting that brown staining off glass bake ware. It's made from rhubarb leaves.
But for my daily wipe up around the kitchen I use nothing more than hot soapy water with a splash (a small one) of bleach and a microfiber cloth.
Watch any products that are heavily fragranced; they're coming to the conclusion that all these smelly things are contributing to asthma and allergies. It's better to remove the souce of the smell than to cover it up.
Carpet sprinkle are notorious for causing anything from skin issues to eyes itching and watering. First decide if it's the carpet or the sweeper. If it's the carpet, sprinkle generously with baking soda and leave it lay for a good 20 minutes and then vacuum thoroughly. If it's the sweeper exhaust that stinks, clean the machine. Replace the bag, clean the hoses and attachments and put down a cup of salt and baking soda and let the machine suck that up. The soda will freshen, the salt is hard enough that it will knock some of the dirt loose that is inside the machine and reduce the odor. I often put sprigs of fresh lavender in my sweeper. Fresh oregano is great and it's antibacterial also. A drop of essential oil on a cotton ball works also. Freshen the air as you sweep w/o all the powder and chemicals.
There is nothing wrong with vinegar and water either but it sometimes requires more elbow grease and time. We don't have enough time as it is. Introduce new products slowly, like 1 a month. If he reacts to anything, you will know exactly which one it was.
