Most guitar players use a pick when they play. But you can also use your fingers.

Most (not all) of guitarists who use their fingers play what is called a "classical" guitar. A classical guitar has a neck a little wider, and uses nylon strings instead of steel strings. It is This guitar is called a "classic" because of its shape, its strings, and the type of music usually plays on the subject - classical music.

Classical though beautiful, is not the only music that plays on a classical guitar - You can play anything you want. The point is that this type of guitar is played with fingers.

You can also play acoustic guitar or electric standard with your fingers. Lindsey Buckingham of Fleetwood Mac fame plays that way. Many guitarists learn two ways to play, and many actually use a combination of a pick and fingers together.

But if you are beginner, do not worry about things like that. Just decide how you want to go.

If you decide to go with either an acoustic or electric guitar standard, you want to use a pick.

As far as the type of selection to use the best type to use is one that is "light". Do not play with a plectrum thickness. Such peaks have no flexibility - Ie they do not move at all when you choose a chain or rope. This means they are more difficult to control. Do not put those who are too thin either. You will constantly cracking or breaking. Also a very thin resume makes her a really thin when you play.

Do not get peaks that are over-sized or very small either. They are also more difficult to control. Use regular size picks.

If you decide to play classical, acoustic or electric, have fun. You make music.
