How do i get my HSM wii mic to work?

its really hard 2 get my high school musical wii microphone 2 work and on the rare occasion wen it does, if i quit off a song and try 2 do another it says the mic isnt there.
PLZ help me cause i dont want 2 have 2 take it back!

also it says in the instruction book to turn off the wii, plugg in mic then turn it back on but wen it works its neva by doing it that way.

i have one and it doesn't do that but i would try checking the connection in the back. make sure it is securely plugged in. it might also just be that mic. if it still doesn't work, take it back to exchange it. Good luck!
