Lord of The Rings, War of The Ring's early scenarios may be easy, but WOTR's final missions are an epic struggle. The following tactics should get you through them intact - along with some hearty army-building tips.
CIRITH GORGOR
The final Good mission
The keys to beating this scenario are to:
1. use your heroes as effectively as you can, and
2. go on the offensive almost from the get-go.
Get your base going, avoiding expensive units such as Shieldbreakers and instead focusing on cheap melee and ranged fighters to protect your heroes. Don't forget to build a Ranger post and plenty of Rangers.
Keep a small defensive force at your base and rally the rest of the troops you produce to Aragorn, using him to heal everyone when possible.
Take your starting force and immediately capture the small enemy base to your southwest. You'll need these resources later, and the base is also near the main path the enemy will use to get to your base after you deal with the Balrog (which is, of course, the most pressing matter).
Once you've captured the base, immediately head to the bottom-left corner of the map and capture the Claw. Use Gandalf's Rain of Fire, and advance the rest of your units behind it. (Make liberal use of Gimli's Sunder, Gandalf's Stun, and Legolas' Guardian Wind and Speed in each combat encounter. Don't let Legolas or Aragorn die).
Heal your attacking force, and when the Balrog emerges (this is awesome!), send your army to capture the Claw in the upper-left corner of the map. Use Gimli to capture the towers. Keep your army there and wait for the Balrog to pass, and then take the Claw at the northeast corner, where Gandalf's Stun and Rain of fire and Legolas' Guardian Wind are essential to victory. Once the last Claw is yours, race back to your base (using Legolas' Elven Speed) to deal with the Balrog, which you should be able to dispatch with just your heroes. (If the Balrog does get to your base before you can capture all the Claws, use any defenders you have to lure him away and delay him until your heroes can get there.)
Now set up a base and defensive towers at the enemy camp you captured at the start, defend the pass (Rain of Fire, Stun, Guardian Wind), and build up your army to steamroll the enemy once your population hits 60 to 100.
And there you have a very successful strategy to emerge victorious at Cirith Gorgor, the final Good mission in Lord of The Rings, War of The Ring.
