If you're planning a childrens party, one of the most important things you will need to consider is how to keep the children interested and entertained. And, if you want to create a memorable experience that they will never forget, what better way to liven things up than to have some fun children's party games! Now, to save you the trouble of having to think up some cool party games ideas, we have come up with a list of ideal children party games.
While all of these games are traditional, they certainly don't have to be boring. And, just because they offer a good opportunity for any child to learn, that doesn't mean they don't have to be fun. These childrens party games have stood the test of time, and there's a reason for that: because kids love to play them.
Let's start off with that old favorite of kids birthday party games - getting them to pin things on different objects. You could have them pin the tail on the donkey or they could pin the hat on the sailor or they could pin a crown on the king or queen, and so on and so forth.
Now, you can buy these things from a kids store, or, if you want to add to the children's experience, you could easily make these things up yourself. What you want to do is to get some poster paper and to draw on it. Or, even better, you could have your child draw things up prior to the party.
Another fun game for kids to play is Musical Chairs.
What you want to do is to setup a row of chairs, back to back, and to make sure that there is one chair less than the number of kids playing. Choose some music to play, and as you play the music have the children walk around the room. As soon as the music stops, the children must find a chair to sit on. The child who is left standing is out of the game. At which point you remove another chair and the game continues until only one chair remains. The kid who sits on it is the winner.
If that is a bit too competitive for your taste, Chinese Whispers is another fun game that you could choose.
Get all the children to form a circle. Choose one of the children - the birthday boy or girl, perhaps - to choose a phrase or sentence and get them to whisper this to the person sitting next to them, who then whispers what they heard to the person sitting next to them and so on, until everyone in the circle has heard the message. The last person to hear the message then tells the whole group what they heard, allowing everyone to compare it with what they thought they heard. This can often have all the children rolling about with laughter as it turns out that what the original message was was completely different from what they thought it was, and likewise the final message.
And what better way to round things off than with a game of Pass the Parcel?
Wrap a gift in as many layers of paper as there are children. Sit all the children in a circle close together, and have them pass the parcel to each other. Play some music, and when the music stops, the player who is holding the parcel unwraps one of the layers. Continue playing until all the layers are removed, and the child who has the final layer gets to win the prize.
